The present study focused on the implementation of enriched books as a tool to reduce the digital gap in the personnel affected by services without connection to data networks in the professional training of the University Institute of Maritime Safety (IUSM).
The research addressed the problem of the digital divide in the educational field and proposed a technological solution to improve the quality and accessibility of distance education in remote areas or without internet connection.The project involved the analysis of the needs and characteristics of the affected personnel, the identification of the key functionalities for the implementation of enriched books and the design of a set of specific tools for their effective implementation.
Prototypes of a web multimedia management system and a mobile application were developed, which allow the incorporation of multimedia files, interactivity with the reader and the incorporation of links with QR codes, among other functionalities.The evaluation of the effectiveness of the proposed tools was carried out by collecting and analyzing data on their use and acceptance by users.
The results indicated that the implementation of enriched books is viable and relevant in the context of the IUSM.
The importance of involving users in the development of technological and educational solutions was highlighted to guarantee their effectiveness and adaptation to the real needs of students throughout the country who are subjected to these special service situations.In conclusion, the study showed that the implementation of enriched books can help reduce the digital divide and improve accessibility to educational resources at the Maritime Safety University Institute.
It is suggested to continue working on the efficiency and standard of availability of these tools to optimize their impact on the quality of education and learning in the Argentine Naval Prefecture.
